Solid Earth Section :: Physique des Systèmes Terrestres

Welcome to the Solid Earth Section!

The CGU Solid Earth Section was started in 2009 to further the aims and objectives of the Canadian Geophysical Union within the fields of Solid Earth geophysics by:1) facilitating Solid Earth geophysics research and development in Canada, in support of scientific, economic and social activities; 2) building links with national and international organizations with similar interests; 3) promoting the results and applications of Solid Earth geophysical research to the wider geophysical and other communities and encouraging multidisciplinary research; and, 4) encouraging the timely communication of scientific results and related information through conferences, workshops, special lectures and the internet.

Sponsorship support for graduate student scientific meetings: The CGU Solid Earth Section now offers supporting sponsorship up to $250 to regional Canadian graduate student scientific meetings with geophysical content. Requests should be sent by meeting organizers to the Solid Earth Executive (via the Secretary, pmccausl@uwo.ca) and these will be assessed by the criteria of geophysical content and the possibility of generating matching funds for the meeting from other sources.

Student Best Paper Award: Most recent winner Robert Gray (U. Toronto), 2012 Banff CGU meeting!
