MEMBER BENEFITS

As a CGU member, you receive the CGU newsletter Elements and qualify for reduced registration fees for CGU meetings and CGU sponsored meetings. If you are a CGU student member, you can apply for travel assitance to attend CGU meetings and compete for best student paper awards given at these meetings.

Through agreements with the National Research Council of Canada, the CGU is responsible for the operation of the Canadian National Committee for the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (CNC/IUGG) and for nominating Canadian representatives for various IUGG organizations. You may have the opportinity of representing Canada in these international organizations.

Above all, as a CGU member, you have the opportunity of working together with other fellow geophysicists to promote Canadian Earth science in many of the CGU sponsored or organized activities.

Membership in the CGU is open to all who share the goals of the Union. Members of the Canadian Association of Physicists, the Geological Association of Canada, the Canadian Institute of Geomatics, the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographical Society, the Société Québécoise de Géóphysique, and the Canadian Geomorphology Research Group qualify for a reduced membership rate as do students at secondary and post-secondary institutions. Canadian members, irrespective of their scientific organizations, are encouraged to enroll as full-paying members.
